Currently the JB Jeyaretnam Project is at the, Company Limited by Guarantee stage (CLG). We are now working towards recognition as an Institution of Public Character (IPC). Once we achieve IPC status we will commence our charitable projects. We hope the process can be finalised by year end 2021.
The focus of our mission will be on relieving poverty among those marginalised groups that were so dear to JBJ 's heart.
This includes socially disadvantaged children affected by digital poverty, low income families whose children are not meeting their full academic potential through lack of means and access, the isolated elderly, single parent families, people on an intersection of needs, people affected by mental heath issues which have put them into poverty and unofficial carers.
Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam (1926 - 2008)
JBJ was a Singaporean renowned for his career in law and politics. He was also a man who cared deeply about what he called "pockets of poverty" in Singapore. He dedicated his life to serving others and through this project we hope we can continue to help many more in our community thrive.
Help us help others! The charity will support amongst others: elders, the homeless, students from low income families and families and individuals in crisis through being disadvantaged.
When JB Jeyaretnam Project achieves IPC status we will begin our projects in earnest. Meanwhile please get in touch if you would like to volunteer, offer your services or suggest a project. We aim to interview all prospective volunteers and so we really appreciate early applications.
